Education:

  •  BA degree in political science – Chulalongkorn University
  • MSc degree in international hotel management – University of Surrey

Born into one of Thailand’s most well-known political families, Paetongtarn grew up witnessing both the opportunities and challenges that come with public service. She is the youngest child of the 23rd prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra and niece of the 28th prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra.  Rather than stepping immediately into politics, she built experience in business and management before taking on a more active political role. Over time, she emerged as a prominent figure in her own right, connecting with younger voters and advocating for policies focused on economic growth, opportunity, and social development.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra ‘s appointment attracted international attention not only because of her age but also because it reflected changing attitudes toward leadership. As more women around the world step into positions of power, Paetongtarn represents a new generation of leaders who bring fresh perspectives to long-standing challenges.

For many young women, her story demonstrates that leadership is not defined by age or gender. Paetongtarn Shinawatra’s rise serves as a reminder that women continue to break barriers across every region of the world. Her leadership reflects the growing influence of a new generation determined to shape the future and redefine what political leadership can look like.
